The partition of India had innumerable repercussions, and these consequences still affect India, Pakistan, and the people of these countries to this day. It is undeniable that most of the outcomes of the partition had a negative effect on the people of these two nations, and so this played a part in the decision of some to move to the United States, in hopes of a better job, more opportunities, or just for safety for themselves and their families. This is true for my father, my mother, and their families — it is likely that they would not have made the decision to move to the United States, if it had not been for the partition. My purpose in creating this website is to examine the effects of the partition, and to connect them to all the factors that lead to my father's decision to move to the United States. In addition, I investigated how it affected his identity and the culture and heritage which he brought with him from Pakistan and ultimately passed down to me.
